NInA opened up!

We’ve inaugurated our new offices and opened ourselves to the city. At the end of May, the NInA offices have become a hub of cultural activity: concerts, shows, plays, discussions, and workshops. Additionally, we’ve celebrated our 10th birthday — and there’s plenty of reasons to celebrate!

Aleksander Nowak
"A new Polish star in the firmament of composers. His audacious debut is comparable only to that of Krzysztof Penderecki and Paweł Mykietyn" – Andrzej Chłopecki, "Dwutygodnik". Aleksander Nowak (1979) is among today’s most interesting young Polish composers. Pieces constructed around stories and anecdotes are his trademark: a preoccupation with elusive, quotidian events (Dark Haired Girl in a Black Sports Car, 2009), fascinating voyages (Fiddler’s Green and White Savannas Never More, 2006), and intimate, emotional experiences (Last Days of Wanda B., 2006). His skill at combining narrative experiments and exploring new harmonies has won him two commissions for operas: Sudden Rain (Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, 2009) and Space Opera (Teatr Wielki in Poznań, 2015), and has led to two albums: Fiddler’s Green, published by Polish Radio Katowice in 2009, and 3x4+8, published by CD Accord in 2012.
Maciej Grzybowski
"Maciej Grzybowski has the gift of energizing his partners and the audience. He sits down at the keyboard with the unshakable conviction that the score on the stand is a recording of essentially important music" – Małgorzata Komorowska, "Ruch Muzyczny". Maciej Grzybowski (1968) is a charismatic pianist and chamber musician. He has performed solo at international festivals alongside such famous names as Martha Argerich, Ivo Pogorelich and the London Sinfonietta. He has released two Fryderyk-nominated albums: Paweł Szymański – Works for Piano (EMI Classics) and Dialog (Universal), featuring pieces by Bach, Schönberg, Szymański and Mykietyn. Compositions have been dedicated to him by Paweł Mykietyn (Epifora, 1996) and Paweł Szymański (Singletrack, 2005).
Chamber orchestra
"It was like listening to a cloud of hornets rapidly changing direction. For a minute or two, 48 musicians became a single, unified organism" – Alex Pappademas, New York Times. AUKSO is one of the most interesting chamber orchestras in Europe — a young and spirited group established in 1998 by a cohort of graduates of the Academy of Music in Katowice and Marek Moś, a pre-eminent violinist, conductor, and chamber musician. The orchestra has collaborated with NInA on multiple projects, including the 2011 world premiere of Paweł Mykietyn’s "Third Symphony" at the inauguration celebrations for the National Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency in the EU Council or the world premiere of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki’s Kyrie Eleison in 2014.

She’s one of the most upbeat figures on the Warsaw party scene and probably the oldest female DJ in the world.
