Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema
Scorsese has wanted to screen his favorite films in front of American audiences for many years, but copies of Polish movies, especially those shot before 1989, were difficult to find in the United States. Today, thanks to developments in technology and the digital reconstruction process, American audiences can enjoy such masterpieces as The Promised Land and Pharaoh on the big screen.
Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema is an unprecedented event: it is the first large-scale showcase of Poland’s cinematic heritage abroad. The series is a milestone for Polish filmmaking and a result of the country’s systematic approach to digitization and digital reconstruction.
Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema is organized by: Fundacja Propaganda, DI Factory, the Digital Film Repository (CRF) and the Film Foundation. NInA is a strategic parter of the event, as the operator of the Culture+ Long-Term Program in the field of audiovisual digitization.
