Partners and network

The National Audiovisual Institute was established in April 2009 on the basis of the Polish Audiovisual Publishing House, founded in 2005. Since the extension of its mission to digitization of archives, making audiovisual content available and media education, NInA cooperates with different European public partners in charge of audiovisual preservation and is member of several professional and public networks.

INA

In 2009, the French Intitut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA) and the Polish National Audiovisual Institute (NInA) signed a frame agreement on support and exchange of experience and know how in the field of audiovisual preservation. Since then, several projects were conducted together and experts from France participated in conferences held in Poland (related to digitization, dissemination and media education topics).
L’Institut National de l’Audiovisuel founded in 1974, is the national audiovisual archive and world leader in preservation of audiovisual archives, promotion of content and transmission of memory and knowledge among the general public (www.ina.fr), professionals (www.inamediapro.fr), specialists (www.inatheque.ina.fr), researchers and students (www.ina-sup.com).

Moreover, a yearly conference Culture 2.0 is held by the National Audiovisual Institute in Poland with participation of experts from other institutions such as the Netherlands Sound and Vision Institute (Beeld en Geluid) or representatives of the Hungarian Audiovisual Archives (NAVA).

The National Audiovisual Institute is member of several professional and international organizations such as the FIAT IFTA, PrestoCentre, BAAC and participates in meetings of the European Commission Cinema Expert Group.

FIAT IFTA

In 2010, NInA joined the International Federation of Television Archives in order to share and learn the professional background of audiovisual preservation from public broadcasters to private technology providers.
The International Federation of Television Archives/Fédération Internationale des Archives de Télévision (FIAT/IFTA) was founded in 1977. More than 250 members have joined the organisation that promotes co-operation amongst television archives, multimedia and audiovisual archives and libraries, and all those engaged in the preservation and exploitation of moving image and recorded sound materials and associated documentation. Some of FIAT/IFTA’ s main objectives are to provide a forum for exchange of knowledge and experience between its members, to promote the study of any topic relevant to the development and use of audiovisual archives and to establish international standards on key issues regarding all aspects of audiovisual media archive management.

PRESTO CENTRE
NInA became a member of the European Competence Centre PrestoCentre on the day of its creation, 15 March 2011. As a member NInA will be consulted by a network of experts in audiovisual preservation, management and education.
PrestoCentre is the outgrowth of more than ten years of work by several major projects funded by the European Union, and conducted by over a dozen organisations. PrestoCentre is a main outcome of the European Commission co-funded project, PrestoPRIME. PrestoCentre is a membership driven organisation that brings together a community of stakeholders in audiovisual digitisation and digital preservation to share, work and learn. PrestoCentre’s governing board includes representatives from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC, UK); l'Institut National de l'Audiovisuel (INA, France); Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (Beeld en Geluid); Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF, Austria); and Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI, Italy). These organisations provide a basic support for the PrestoCentre and its activities. PrestoCentre can bring best practices and open tools for future digitization.

BAAC
NInA joined the BAAC in the mid 2011 in perspective of regional activity as well as possible impact in common statements towards the European Union.
Baltic Audiovisual Archival Council (BAAC) is an independent nonprofit organization, founded as a voluntary association with a goal to foster cooperation between public and private archives, broadcasting and TV archives, libraries and museums that possess collections of audiovisual materials about the Baltic States, Scandinavian countries and the worldwide Baltic diaspora. The Council commits itself to reviewing and assuring the maintenance of these historically valuable collections.

CINEMA EXPERT GROUP
Since 2009, NInA’s representatives take part in yearly meetings of the informal permanent Cinema Expert Group in charge of audiovisual policy by the Information Society and Media DG of the European Commission.
The Cinema Expert Group mission is to enable exchange of best practices in relation to cinema, and in particular, film heritage. Coordinated with Member States and composed of national administrations, international organizations, trade unions and association of audiovisual, media and culture, it provides advice to the European Commission on policy initiatives related to cinema.
