Workshop 3: Surf, Search and Create with EUscreen Tools | Content in Motion

We will introduce and explore the EUscreen tools developed to curate content from diverse platforms (WITH) and to build publications on the EUscreen website (Publication Builder).

Participants will get the opportunity to test the two tools based on content and collections of their own choice. Based on best practice examples presented by the developers of the tools, participants will work on their own publications. Satisfying results of the workshop can immediately be published on EUscreen.eu. This workshop is geared towards archivists, documentalists, teachers, researchers, and everyone interested in curation and publication tools.

Rutger Rozendal

Rutger is a director at Noterik. He joined the company in 2003 when he became responsible for the coordination of webcast services. Since 2009 Rutger is the linking pin between requirements from the market and our general product development.

Mariana Salgado

Mariana works as postdoctoral design researcher in Arki Research Group at the School of Art, Design and Architecture at Aalto University. Her interests are in participatory design approaches and inclusive solutions that weave new media into cultural sites. She has been involved in discussions in relation to open cultural heritage, and social inclusion. Her design practice is about co-designing digital services with special interest communities.

Willemien Sanders

Willemien is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Cultural Inquiry (ICON) and the Department of Media and Culture Studies at Utrecht University. After working in the cultural field for over a decade, she embarked on a PhD project in Film and Television studies, which she completed in 2012. She is currently involved in EUscreenXL, developing tools for contextualizing and publishing audio-visual content. She is also involved in the SiFTI project, investigating production cultures in successful film and television production companies in the Netherlands.

Arne Stabenau

Arne is a computer science graduate from Germany. For the last 10 years he has been working for the Technical University of Athens in the area of Program and Database design for cultural metadata. He’s currently involved in EUscreenXL, Europeana Spaces and LoCloud, and has previously worked on EUscreen, Europeana Fashion, Carare, 3d icons, Athina and other EU funded projects in the cultural heritage domain. Before that, his passion was genomic databases and life science related programming.

Vassilis Tzouvaras

Vassilis is a senior researcher at the Image, Video and Multimedia Systems Laboratory (IVML) of the National Technical University of Athens, carrying out research in the areas of knowledge representation, ontology engineering, reasoning and semantic search. He is active in Europeana developments and many related projects. He has published 15 journal papers and 60 conference papers. He obtained a Ph.D. in the field of knowledge technologies at the ECE Department of NTUA.
