Date
FRI   17 / 02 / 2017
Hour
18:00  –  20:30
Place
National Audiovisual Institute Wałbrzyska 3/5
02-739 Warsaw
The Promised Land room | 1st floor

The event will bring together designers, curators, GLAM and creative industries representatives who will gather to discuss the use of digital collections in artistic activities and cultural practices. The debate will be centered around the needs and practices of creative re-use, as well as access strategies of digital collections holders. We will reflect on the specifics of a conscious use of citations and digitized works of art, historical documents, texts, in relation to curated contexts, copyright and innovative technology. We will also showcase examples of interesting artistic practices, designs and unique creations inspired by digital heritage.

Programme

We will begin at 6 PM with a showcase presenting examples of projects inspired by archival content – be it in design communication, prints, fashion or interior design. The showcase will be a "guided tour" with guides-designers in the spaces of NInA, which will serve as the setting for artistic performances and screenings re-using archival images, sound or video. The second part of the event will be a debate between the experts and the public on the use of digital resources by artists, designers, curators, and – to some extent – by any user of the Internet. Moderated by Agata Nowotny, the discussion will be attended by Piotr Rypson (National Museum in Warsaw), Milena Popova (Europeana Foundation), Susanna Stańska (DailyArt) and Krzysztof Łukomski (School of Form). The event summarizes a workshop at the Faculty of Design of School of Form organised for an international group of students, who worked with a collection of archival material available on Europeana.eu.

Organizers

The event is co-organized by the School of Form and NInA under the Tu Europeana project.
