17:30–21:30 Nordic Noir film screenings

Programme:

17:30 “NORDIC NOIR: THE DOCUMENTARY – THE RISE OF SCANDI-DRAMA” (The Nordics, SHOOT FOR THE MOON, DR)

In the past few years, dark and convoluted  stories collectively referred to as Nordic Noir have captured the imagination of crime and detective story lovers worldwide. The main protagonists of Scandinavian TV series seem to have established a new archetype of an intriguing and diligent, though often imperfect and torn lawman. The documentary analyzes this phenomenon through – among other things – interviews with the stars of such cult series as “Forbrydelsen” or “Wallander”, and the producers of the most captivating Scandinavian series and their foreign adaptations.

18:30 “The Pact” | Season 1 Episode 1 (HBO)

An HBO production set in contemporary Poland. The main protagonist, Piotr, is an investigative journalist who one day catches whiff of a major financial scandal. As time passes the whole affair becomes personal, and its roots turn out to reach  back all the way to the beginnings of Polish postcommunist transformation. Will the people who – sometimes not entirely legally – made their fortunes and careers in the early 1990s pay for the choices and decisions they’ve made?

19:30 “THE BRIDGE” | Season 1 Episodes 1 & 2 (SVT, DR, Filmlance)

A dead woman is found on the Øresund bridge which links Sweden and Denmark. Soon it turns out that the corpse actually consists of the mutilated remains of two people, arranged so that they look like a single victim. This spectacular murder is just the beginning of a wave of violence which the combined Swedish and Danish police forces, led by inspectors Martin Rohde and Sagi Norén, will have to face.
