Films for Breakfast

We invite you to a family breakfast during which we will see five acclaimed short films for children aged 5–12 and play, talk, and share cinematic experiences.

Below is a list of the films that will be shown during our breakfast. The screenings will be interspersed with art and development workshops for children and parents.

Gruffalo, dir. Max Lang, Jakob Schuh, 2009, 24 minutes

The film talks about laying claims to independence and turning a blind eye to the unruliness and mistake-making that are an essential part of growing up.

The Elephant and the Bicycle, dir. Olesya Shchukina, 2014, 9 minutes

A paper cut-out animation about an elephant who lives in a city with humans and works as a street sweeper. One day he sees an advertisement for a bicycle that seems to be the perfect size for him.

The Letter, dir. Isabelle Favez, 2015, 6 minutes

An animated film about a girl who lives with her cat in a small town. The two are worlds apart – she has a kind heart, and he is a heartless hunter.

The Bird and the Squirrel, dir. Lena von Dohren, 2015, 5 minutes

An animated film for the youngest set. The last colourful leaf is hanging from a mighty branch. The bird would like to water it, but the squirrel took away his watering can and now hops with it from tree to tree.

One, Two, Three, The Tree Wants to See, dir. Yulia Aronova, 2015, 7 minutes

The animated story of a tree that seems to be just like all the others, and yet one day it dons galoshes and goes for a walk.
