FIAT/IFTA MMC Seminar in Glasgow

The international MMC seminar will host the international AV Community in Glasgow to hear prominent keynote speakers and representatives from a variety of large audiovisual (broadcast) archives speak on the Main Theme: Setting The Standard in 2nd Generation MAM systems and Metadata.

Speakers will provide real-world insights on managing our digital content in new 2nd generation media asset management systems, in addition to accessing and leveraging legacy content and metadata.

Day I: Second generation MAM systems

The first day will be on 2nd generation Media Asset Management systems with Case Studies from Archives who are at different phases in the process of implementing new MAM systems. The sessions will present the organisational and technical challenges experienced, the advantages and disadvantages of new/ old systems, innovative workflows and MAM in the context of production and end user environments.

Filip Kwiatek, Head of Archives Department at NInA, will deliver a presentation on current technological and organizational challanges that face our collections. He will speak about aquisition, ingest, metadata and export workflows, as well as the dynamics between the Archive Department and Internet Projects.

Day II: Metadata

The second day will focus on various aspects of Metadata – structured/unstructured, impact on search, standards and new emerging technologies. In addition, participants will examine the impact of social media on broadcast news and production archives.
