Wilczyński/Waglewski | A Decade in Audiovisual Culture

The recording is part of the multimedia essay created by 20 household names in Polish culture and presented live on February 24th, 2017 during the NInA Finale. It was an event during which we looked back at the last decade in audiovisual culture, as well as the nearly 12-year-long history of the Institute (just days before the merger with the National Film Archive).

“The New York Times”called Mariusz Wilczyński a “leading contemporary animator.” Wilczyński is the mastermind behind “Wilkanoc,” a showcase of improvisation that combines animation created live with performances by invited musicians, such as Boris Berezovsky, Tomasz Stańko, Leszek Możdżer, and Wojciech Waglewski. Since 2008, he’s been working on Zabij to i wyjedź z tego miasta [Kill It and Leave This Town], his a feature-length animated movie, slated to premiere in 2019.

Wojciech Waglewski is a composer, lyricist, producer, founder and frontman of one of the most important rock bands in the history of Polish music—Voo Voo, released over 30 LPs to date. In his solo efforts, he collaborated with key artists of Polish jazz and rock scenes, as well as multiple artists from abroad. Waglewski has also authored scores and soundtracks for numerous stage plays.
